Namibia... The place where sand and sea meet!
Sand and Sea
Half Day Tour
Morning / Afternoon
(+/-) 4 Hours

Namibia is known as the land of contrast and from the landscape at Sandwich Harbor this is very obvious.

Here the Namib dunes tower hundreds of meters out of the Atlantic Ocean. This is where the mighty waves of the Atlantic meet the endless Namib Sea of Sand. It is a breathtaking landscape that is not likely to be matching anywhere else.

The tidal lagoon at Sandwich harbor plays a vital role for a number of migratory bird species and is home to several coastal waders.

The combination of the scarce vegetation clinging on the edge of the lagoon, sandwich between the Namib Dunes and the Atlantic Ocean brings a wonderful landscape color scene.

The sheer number of Flamingos found here is one of many highlights.

Near Pelican Point is a Cape Fur Seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) colony, numbering in the thousands.

Because we travel mostly along the coast there is a good opportunity to spot Dolphins from the shore and maybe the occasional Whale.

Because of the nature of the half-day tour it might be that we only reach the area about 10 km before Sandwich Harbor lagoon where the high dunes of the Namibian "Sand Sea" moved right onto the beach, making it impossible to drive on the beach, except at low tide and even then it is still a treacherous 10 km, where a vehicle can easily gets stuck.

However your guide will still make an effort to get as close as possible to the bay by driving a bit deeper though the dunes and to pictures viewpoints high on the dunes right next to the Ocean.
